Festival of Miles adds High School
All Star 100 Meter Dashes to Meet Schedule

The region’s top sprint stars will join top milers as featured high school athletes
St. Louis (March 5, 2013) – The Big River Festival of Miles presented by Under Armour announced today that it will be adding two exciting races to this year’s schedule. The Saint Louis Injury and Rehab High School All Star 100 meter dashes will feature top sprinters from Missouri and across the midwest. This year’s meet will be held at Saint Louis University High School on Thursday May 30, beginning at 6:30 pm.
Event organizers will be sending out official invites to athletes who meet the qualifying standards; 11.00 seconds (boys) and 12.50 seconds (girls) during the course of the 2013 season. Athletes who meet the standards are allowed to enter at any point with official accepted entries to be announced on MoMileSplit.com on Sunday May 26th. Eight boys and eight girls will be chosen. They will join the boys and girls accepted to compete in the MoMileSplit.com High School All Star Miles as the featured high school athletes at the meet.
The 2013 Festival of Miles schedule will also include the GO! St. Louis Healthy Kids Mile and Junior High Invitational Miles, the Saint Louis Injury and Rehab Corporate 4×100 relay, the Masters Men’s Mile and of course the two professional events; the Speed Factory Athletics Women’s 800 and the Saint Louis Track Club Elite Men’s Mile.
Meet director Ben Rosario said adding the 100 meter dashes goes along with the spirit of the event.
“The Festival of Miles is about creating a super-fun atmosphere for the crowd and the athletes,” Rosario said. “Adding one of track and field’s premiere events to the line-up was a no-brainer and we know the athletes who compete are going to enjoy the fan support they’ll receive.”
This will be the sixth edition of the Festival of Miles. Over the last five years the meet has raised more than $30,000 for athletes in need. The Elite Men’s Mile has produced nine sub-four-minute miles including Olympic Silver Medalist Leo Manzano’s meet record of 3:55.29 in 2009, the fastest mile ever run in the State of Missouri.
